What is tumescent liposuction

What is tumescent liposuction

Sometimes, some people want to get rid of their unwanted fats in a faster way. They often consider liposuction. It is a process of removing excess fat cells which are intractable and difficult to remove. If you will undergo this procedure, you have to take general anesthesia because liposuction is a painful process.

The reason for this is that it uses cannula and is inserted into the fat layer. In this way, the surgeon can suck out the fat from the body. There is a type of liposuction that does not use general anesthesia. This is called as tumescent liposuction. In this procedure, local anesthesia is used. Tumescent means swollen and firm.

In this process, lidocaine is mixed with a certain fluid that is injected into the subcutaneous fat. Doing this makes the injected area swollen and firm. This type of liposuction uses local anesthesia to prevent blood loss. Know that lumps are visible after the surgery. You do not have to worry about the swelling because it is normal and the visibility takes a few weeks.

However, for those who have bodies that heal slower, it takes up to 4 months. If you have a body like this, you can wear a compression garment which can help lessen the degree of swelling. You can also move around to make sure that there is still proper circulation of blood. Whatever result you gain after the surgery, you have to tell your surgeon about your concerns so that he/she can give you a correct and accurate diagnosis.
